OLIVET, MICH. – The Trine men's golf team finished sixth in the Lou Collins Memorial Tour hosted by Olivet College. The team shot 612 (308 + 304) on the weekend to finish 11 strokes out of third. The University of Northwestern Ohio finished first in the event with a two day total of 575 (292 + 283), while conference foe Hope (Mich.) College finished second with 584 (291 + 293).
Sophomore Grant McKay (Las Vegas, Nev./Coronado) was the stand out on the team finishing with a score of 144 on the weekend (74 + 70) which was good enough to finish second individually on the weekend.
Freshman Cameron Ruge (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) finished second on the team and 15th in the tournament with a 149 (77 + 72). Sophomores Grant Brettnacher (Brookton/Harrison) and Todd Mieske (Owosso, Mich./Owosso) rounded out the scoring with scores of 161 for the weekend.
Trine will next compete on Tuesday, September 12, at the Speiss Invitational in Wauseon, Ohio with competition starting at 10:00 a.m.
