KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The Trine University men's tennis team made short work of their opponents from King's (Pa.) College, defeating them 9-0 on the second day of their spring break trip.
The Thunder pairs gave up just one game during the doubles portion of the day. Junior Aaron Streit (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) with sophomore Ryan Smith (Peru, Ind. / Peru) in the No. 2 match and senior Jaxon Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) with freshman Caleb Morris (Terre Haute, Ind. / Terre Haute South Vigo) in the No. 3 match both picked up 8-0 victories. The team of freshman Cole Goodman (Eagle, Mich. / Grand Ledge) and junior Drew Dixon (Fishers, Ind. / Fishers) took the No. 1 match 8-1.
The team would go on to cruise to the victory with a lopsided single portion of the match. Smith in the No. 5 match and Morris in the No. 6 match both won in straight games, 6-0, 6-0, while Streit in the No. 2 match needed just one extra game to win 6-1, 6-0. Goodman finished the No. 1 match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory and Dixon took the No. 4 match 6-2, 6-0. Davis was the final student-athlete to finish his match need a few extra games in the second set to pick up the win 6-2, 7-5.
The victory give the team a 4-3 record. They will continue their time in Florida when they take on Covenant College tomorrow, Wednesday, March 8. The dual is set to start at 11:30 a.m.
