ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's tennis team picked up their tenth victory of the season, defeating visiting Manchester University with a score of 9-0.
The teams opened the day with doubles matches and all three of the Thunder teams won by the score of 8-1. Andrew Spirrison and Elijah Schilthuis competed in the No. 1 match, Cole Goodman and Drew Dixon in the No. 2 match with Caleb Morris and Nicholas Jen in the No. 3 match.
Trine also cruised through the singles portion of the contest. Dixon needed the most points to secure his win in the No. 5 match with scores of 6-4, 6-1. Spirrison was the only other member of the team to give up more than one point to the opposition winning the No. 2 match 6-2, 6-0. Morris won in the No. 4 match with scores of 6-1, 6-0 and Jen took the No. 6 match with scores of 6-0, 6-1.
Two members swept their matches, Goodman in the No. 1 match and Schilthuis in the No. 3 match won 6-0, 6-0.
The Thunder improve to 10-3 overall following the victory. They will make a quick turnaround, returning to the courts on Wednesday, April 3 when they host Albion College for a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) dual. That match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
