FREELAND, Mich. – The Trine University men's track and field team had two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week representatives this week.
The MIAA Track Athlete of the Week is Jake Gladieux [Oregon, Ohio / Whitmer]. It is the second weekly award for Gladieux in the indoor track season thus far. The junior hurdler broke his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles last weekend at home in the Sean Brady Alumni Open. Gladieux ran an 8.20 second time to secure second-place in the event and took .04 off his previous best. Additionally, Gladieux competed in the 200-meter run and placed ninth (23.11 seconds).
Senior thrower Theodore Samra [Lansing, Mich. / DeWitt] was named MIAA Field Athlete of the Week following top Thunder performances in the shot put and weight throw. Samra set new personal bests in both events at the Sean Brady Alumni Open on Saturday. He placed third in the weight throw at 15.93 meters (52' 3.25") and fifth in the shot put at 13.93 meters (45' 8.5"). Overall, Samra contributed 11 points to the team score.
Trine track and field is back in action on Friday, January 21 for the Snow Day Invite at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.
