NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Trine University men's track and field team dropped one position in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Great Lakes Regional Rating Index in week four. The Thunder remain the top team in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in the regional rankings after last week's events at Grand Valley State University and the University of Indianapolis.
Jake Gladieux [Oregon, Ohio / Whitmer] was able to break his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles (8.14 seconds) and also competed in the 200-meter dash, where he is closing in on the school record in that event as well.
Trine also had six student-athletes compete at Grand Valley State in the Big Meet Friday, one of the biggest indoor track and field meets in the country. Freshman Joseph Packard [Kokomo, Ind. / Western] and senior Noah Acker [Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble] had the quickest times in the 5000-meter run in that meet.
This weekend, the Thunder send competitors to the University of Notre Dame and Hillsdale College in final preparations for the conference championship meet. Both of those meets take place on Saturday, February 19.
