ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's basketball team has re-entered the top 10 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll and sits 10th with a record of 7-2 heading into the voting deadline.
The win at #1 Hope allowed Trine to move up six spots in the poll. All but one of the teams have a better record than the Thunder, but it goes to show the respect the team has garnered from media members by playing a tough non-conference schedule. Trine is 2-2 overall versus opponents currently ranked.
Sophomore Sidney Wagner was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week following her 29-point performance on Saturday against the Flying Dutch, a career-high. She has taken the lead in scoring for the Thunder at 11.8 points per game.
Just behind Wagner at 11.4 points per game is senior Sam Underhill. Underhill led Trine with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the team's 65-51 win against North Park University on Monday evening. It was her fourth double-double of the season. She sits fifth in the MIAA with a 57.7% field goal percentage this season.
Sophomore Sierra Hinds is the third Trine student-athlete averaging double figures in scoring at 10.1 points per game. She is lethal from long range at 43.9% (18-for-41) and is fifth in the MIAA in three-point percentage.
Trine's Florida trip concludes on Tuesday, December 20 at 1 p.m. when the Thunder face Wartburg College.
