ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's basketball team ended the regular season on a five-game win streak to climb to #13 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll. The Thunder are also slotted 21st in the most recent Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll.
Trine clinched a share of the regular season Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championship on Saturday afternoon with their 70-37 victory against Adrian College. The Thunder and the Flying Dutch of Hope College have now shared the conference title in back-to-back seasons.
Last Saturday, the team's five seniors in Alyssa Argyle, Makayla Ardis, Katie Sloneker, Sophie Sloneker and Sam Underhill were honored prior to tip-off. The five took the floor together one final time at tip-off.
In the MIAA Tournament, the Trine women will hold the number two seed and face the winner of the Calvin University versus Adrian College matchup on Tuesday, February 21. The MIAA Semifinal round game will be played at the host site, Hope College. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. on Friday, February 24.
