ANGOLA, Ind. – In the final national polls for the 2022-23 women's basketball season, the Trine University women's basketball team was ranked in both the D3hoops.com and Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25.
The Thunder were placed 14th in the D3hoops.com Top 25 and 15th in the WBCA final rankings. D3hoops.com honored a pair of women's basketball student-athletes with All-Region awards in sophomore Sidney Wagner and senior Makayla Ardis. Wagner was also tabbed a D3hoops.com Third Team All-American this postseason.
Trine made their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III National Tournament and reached the Sectional Semifinal round after picking up two victories at Loras College. The Thunder defeated Washington University (WashU) 79-69 and topped the host Duhawks by a count of 60-54. New York University moved on after facing Trine in the second weekend of competition, 66-49. The Thunder finish the season with a record of 23-7.
