ANGOLA, Ind. – In the week 10 D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, the Trine University women's basketball team slipped to 18th spot after a 1-1 week. The team is 17th in the most recent poll from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
Despite a loss at Albion College on Wednesday, the Thunder rallied for a win on Saturday at home versus Alma College by a score of 73-51. Overall, Trine is 16-5 and is tied with Hope College and Calvin University for first-place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) standings at 9-2.
Sophomore guard Sidney Wagner led Trine in scoring against the Scots last week with 20 points, her third game of the season scoring 20+ points. She was an efficient 9-of-14 from the field in the win. Wagner leads the team at 13.7 points per game and is third in the MIAA at 49.1% shooting from the field.
This week, the Thunder will host Kalamazoo College on Wednesday, February 8 beginning at 7 p.m. and travel to Calvin University on Saturday, February 11 at 1 p.m. The matchup with the Knights will be key in determining seeding heading into the MIAA Tournament.
