FREELAND, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) has named Trine women's soccer player Ellie Price [Terre Haute, Ind. / Terre Haute North Vigo] the conference's Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week.
It is the second straight week where a Thunder women's soccer player has been honored as an Athlete of the Week. Price is the first defensive nominee of the season.
Price was a member of the defensive line for Trine that notched three shutouts this week. The Thunder remain unbeaten in 2021 following a 4-0 victory and Anderson University and wins of 4-0 and 2-0 in the Buffalo State Tournament last weekend versus Medaille College and Penn State University-Behrend.
In 241 minutes on the pitch, Price and the Trine defense held opponents to just 22 total shots, all of them turned away.
The freshman attempted one shot against Medaille and forced the keeper to make a save on the ball.
The 4-0-1 Thunder take the pitch at Denison University on Wednesday, September 15 and face Augustana University at home on Saturday, September 18.
