TEMPE, Az. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced their 2021 ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams, with multiple Thunder teams and athletes being represented. Both the Trine men's and women's tennis programs were named as All-Academic Teams, and 17 were recognized as Scholar-Athletes.
On the men's side, nine players were named: junior Jaxon Davis [Angola, Ind. / Angola], junior Adam Dills [Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble], sophomore Drew Dixon [Fishers, Ind. / Fishers], senior Isaac Everitt [Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg], sophomore James Hancock [Vincennes, Ind. / Jean Frances Rivet], sophomore David Hockett [New Palestine, Ind. / New Palestine], sophomore Alex Mullet [Westfield, Ind. / Westfield], sophomore Aaron Streit [New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield], and freshman Ethan Wallace [Hope, Ind. / Hauser].
Dills and Everitt are both three-time academic award winners from the ITA, and are joined by Davis, Streit and Mullet who have each won twice.
For the Trine women's tennis program, junior Ellie Cole [Albion, Ind. / Central Noble], freshman Jadyn Davis [Angola, Ind. / Angola], senior Andrea Jordan [New Haven, Ind. / New Haven], senior Delaney Keirn [Claypool, Ind. / Whitko], junior Camille Lozier [Elkhart, Ind. / Concord], sophomore Eva Morales [Elkhart, Ind. / Elkhart Memorial], senior Trista Savage [Bryan, OH / Bryan], and junior Ashley Spirrison [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] were named as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Cole, Jordan, Lozier and Spirrison are each three-time winners of the award. Keirn, Morales and Savage have each been honored twice in their careers.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements: have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
