FREELAND, Mich. -- Senior Isaac Everitt (Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Atheltic Association (MIAA) men's tennis Athlete of the Week.
It is the first time in his career that Everitt has received the award. It is also the first time this season that the Thunder has had a student-athlete named to the award.
Everitt went undefeated in the team's lone competition of the week at Wabash College, playing a crucial role in the team's 5-4 victory.
He joined sophomore Alex Mullet (Westfield, Ind. / Westfield) at No. 3 doubles and picked up an 8-2 win to start the day.
The two teams were tied at 4-4 with Everitt's No. 1 singles match being the final match of the day to finish. Everitt responded to a 2-6 opening set loss by winning the second set 6-2 to force a super tiebreaker. He then clinched the match and dual with a 10-4 victory.
Everitt and the rest of the Thunder will take the courts again Sunday, March 14 when they travel to face Albion College at 1 p.m.
