ANGOLA, Ind.-- Trine's Trisha King has been named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-District® Women's Track and Field/Cross Country team.
King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships for the second-consecutive year, where she placed ninth in the 800-meter run. The senior was unfortunately injured throughout the outdoor season, but was able to compete in MIAA Field Day and place fifth in the conference in the javelin throw. The 2015 Capital One Academic All-District® Track and Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
King excelled in the classroom with a 3.89 G.P.A. in math education during her time at Trine. She was honored as an Academic All-American® last season. King concludes her career having earned All-America honors in the 800-meter run during the 2013-14 indoor season. She also earned All-MIAA First Team honors last season.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected next month.
The Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the third year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored.
