BOWLING GREEN, Ky. & UPLAND, Ind. – For the second day in a row, the Trine University women's track and field team was split between two meets, continuing at the Hilltopper Relays at Western Kentucky University and the George Glass Invitational at Taylor University.
Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] made headlines at Western Kentucky with three top finishes in the triple jump, 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles. In the triple jump, the sophomore was fourth overall at 10.98 meters (36' 0.25"), just .05 off the school record. She also improved upon her own school record time in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.29 seconds and is closing in on the 400-meter hurdles record after securing a time of 1:09.01 on Saturday.
Also at the Hilltopper Relays, Ana Parker [White Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake Northern] was the best finisher in the 800-meter run (2:28.85) and 1500-meter run (4:59.04).
In action at Taylor, Autumn Presley [Pleasant Lake, Ind. / Angola] just missed the school record in the pole vault with a third-place 3.10 meters (10' 2.00"). Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] was the event champion at 55.85 meters (183' 3.00"). Obear was also third in the discus at 39.30 meters (128' 11.00"). In other field events, Lia Vawter [Franklin, Ind. / Franklin] was fourth in the high jump (1.49 meters / 4' 10.50") and Madelyn Summers [Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble] seventh in the shot put (11.04 meters / 36' 2.75").
Track events at Taylor included Katie Berlew [Fremont, Ind. / Fremont] with a seventh-place finish in the 3000 steeplechase (13:55.02), a seventh-place spot by Stephanie Hartpence [Elkhart, Ind. / Concord] in the 400-meter dash (1:04.26), and ninth-place finishes by Paige McGonigal [Coventry Twp., Ohio / Coventry] in the 200-meter dash (27.27 seconds) and Mackenzie Miller [Paw Paw, Mich. / Paw Paw] in the 100-meter dash (13.41 seconds).
Next Saturday, April 9, the Thunder travel to Wabash College for the Huntsman Family Invitational.
