NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced their week four Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index, where the Trine University women's team moved up 15 places to 11th in the nation.
Most recently, the Thunder won the Indiana DIII Championships at DePauw University with top performances in many events. Evie Miller [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead] and Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] were each named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athletes of the Week following their performances at that event as well as "The Monday Meet" at Indiana Tech last week. Miller was also tabbed Most Outstanding Women's Track Athlete at the Indiana DIII Championships.
Four school records were tied or broken this week, including Miller's 4:27.69 in the 1500-meter run and 10:23.93 in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] also secured a program-low time in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.86 seconds. Autumn Presley [Pleasant Lake, Ind. / Angola] hit a height of 3.15 meters (10' 4.00") to tie her own school record mark in the pole vault.
Trine will look to break into the top 10 this weekend when the team travels to the Little State Championships on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23 at Indiana Wesleyan University.
