NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Trine University women's indoor track and field team has been named in the week one United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Poll. The Thunder open up the 2022 season in the 12tn position in NCAA DIII.
Trine, who are ranked third in the Great Lakes Region, is the top Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) school in the national poll. Calvin University is behind them in the 19th spot.
The Thunder competed at the Snow Day Invite at North Central College last weekend, and achieved three event wins. Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] placed first in the weight throw, while Carol Haldeman [Syracuse, Ind. / Fairfield] took home first place in the 3,000-meter run and Amira Faulkner [Bellbrook, Ohio / Bellbrook] won the 800-meter run.
Aubrey Larner [Williamston, Mich. / Okemos], Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] and Lydia Randolph [Jefferson, Ohio / Edgewood Senior] all took runner-up in their events as well to score points for Trine.
