FREELAND, Mich. – Trine University student-athletes swept the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards with Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] winning the track award and Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] taking field honors.
For the 2021 MIAA Field MVP Livingston, it is her first time winning the women's track portion of the Athlete of the Week award. Livingston set new school records in the 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles at the University of Mount Union's Toy Drive Invite on Saturday. She completed the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.13 seconds and 60-meter hurdles at 9.04 seconds.
Obear brings in her third career MIAA Athlete of the Week award after winning two last season. The senior thrower competed at Grand Valley State University on Friday in the Holiday Open. Obear placed sixth in the weight throw at the event, with a longest toss of 17.31 meters (56' 9.5").
The Trine women's track and field team wraps up competition in the fall semester on Friday, December 10 at the Indiana Tech Strive for Greatness Indoor Meet.
