NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Trine University women's indoor track and field team held their spot in 12th in NCAA DIII in this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Track & Field Rating Index. The Thunder women are third in the Great Lakes region in the week two rankings.
Trine saw four school records lowered last weekend at the Steemer Showcase, hosted by Wittenberg University. Three were broken by sophomore Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] and one by Evie Miller [Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead]. Livingston topped her own marks in the long jump with a score of 5.46 meters (17' 11"), 60-meter hurdles (9.04 seconds) and 60-meter dash (7.98 seconds). Miller took nearly three seconds off her previous best time in the mile run at 4:50.76.
Livingston and Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] were each selected as Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athletes of the Week. Obear brought home an event win in the weight throw with a score of 18.27 meters (59' 11"). This mark is just off the existing school record by two-tenths of a meter and is her personal-best.
The Thunder hit the road on Saturday, February 5 when the team competes in the Windy City Rumble, hosted by the University of Chicago.
