NEW ORLEANS, La. – In the week six NCAA DIII Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has put the Trine University women's track and field program 11th.
The Thunder competed in the Lancer Invitational last week at Grace College and had five event wins and one new school record. Valerie Obear [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] put together the best hammer throw in school history with a mark of 57.26 meters (187' 10.00"). That, along with her discus at 44.10 meters (144' 8.00"), was good enough to bring home two event wins.
Haley Livingston [Fort Worth, Texas / Everman] won two events as well. She topped the boards in the long jump (5.56 meters / 18' 3.00") and 100-meter hurdles (15.19 seconds) and also secured a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash (26.68 meters).
Andrea Rodeheffer [Minster, Ohio / Fort Loramie] also brought home maximum points for the Thunder with a victory in the pole vault (2.95 meters / 9' 8.00").
This week, the Trine women look for their first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Outdoor Championship at Albion college on Thursday, May 5 and Friday, May 6.
