FREELAND, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced Trine University men's basketball player Aiden Warzecha [Milford, Mich. / Milford] as the Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week.
Warzecha led the Thunder in scoring in their December 30 non-conference victory over Concordia University Chicago, 88-56. Trine wraps up play in the non-conference portion of the schedule with a record of 7-4 overall.
Against the Cougars, Warzecha netted 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds (all defensive). He also contributed three of the squad's 13 steals in the team's first game back after Christmas break.
In 2021-22, Warzecha is averaging 7.3 points per game on 44.6% from the field and 40.0% from beyond the arc. After pulling down a season-best eight boards, Warzecha has upped his average to 2.9 rebounds per game and is dishing out 3.0 assists per game, the best mark on the Thunder team.
Trine opens up MIAA play with a road game at Hope College on January 5. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm.
