FREELAND, Mich. – Brent Cox [Kendallville, Ind. / East Noble] of the Trine University men's basketball team has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week following his performance in the 80-37 victory over Albion College on Saturday.
The Thunder picked up their first MIAA win of the season against Albion and moved to 8-4 overall. The junior forward led Trine with 15 points and was 4-for-5 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Cox pulled down two rebounds, dished out three assists and blocked one shot.
15 points against the Britons tied a season-high for the junior this season. Cox is third in scoring for the Thunder, averaging 7.8 points per game, and brings in a team-high 4.8 rebounds per contest.
Trine men's basketball has three games this week, with road games on Monday, January 10 at Hope College (7 pm), and Wednesday, January 12 at Olivet College (8 pm), as well as a home game on Saturday, January 15 versus Kalamazoo College (3 pm).
