ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine men's soccer team was egded by Adrian, 3-1 in MIAA-action Tuesday evening in Docking Stadium.
Tad Davis scored two goals, while Mike Osorio added another tally for the Bulldogs. Kyle Wainscott (Indianapolis, Ind. / Lawrence North) scored the lone Thunder goal, while Trey Waagen (Horton, Mich. / Hanover-Horton) added an assist. Trine fell to 0-12-2 overall, 0-9 in the MIAA. Adrian improved to 8-5 overall and 6-3 in conference matches.
The first of Davis' goals put the Bulldogs up 1-0 just 7:48 into the contest. Osorio made the score 2-0 later in the first half when he cashed in on a rebound off his own shot. Adrian would take that lead into the half.
The Thunder cut into the deficit 10:07 into the second half. Waagen played a long pass up the left side, which Wainscott corralled. The sophomore was able to beat the keeper low with a left-footed shot to the far post. Wainscott's goal was the first of his collegiate career. Waagen was credited with his first collegiate assist.
Trine goalkeeper William Macedo (Elkhart, Ind. / Elkhart Memorial) made back-to-back sprawling saves off point-blank shots in the 67th-minute to keep the score 2-1. Davis was able to break through with his second goal of the night minutes later however, as his fifth goal of the season provided the final 3-1 margin.
Macedo made a career-high seven saves for the Thunder. Spencer Brown made five saves to earn the victory for Adrian.
Trine returns to action Saturday, Oct. 15 when the Thunder host Hope at 2:30 p.m. at Weaver Field.
