SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Trine University men's soccer team traveled to the University of Notre Dame on Tuesday to take on the NCAA DI Fighting Irish. The Thunder were defeated in that matchup 13-0.
Trine falls to 5-4 on the season while Notre Dame is 4-4-1.
The Fighting Irish got on the board right away with a goal in the third minute of action, and backed that up with some insurance in the fifth and ninth minutes.
Notre Dame held a 5-0 lead at the half and went on to score eight more in the second.
Tyler Murphy [Greenfield, Ind. / Greenfield Central] took both of Trine's shots, one in the first half and one in the second. Goalkeepers Troy Saylor [Caledonia, Mich. / Caledonia] and Luis Rodriguez [El Paso, Texas / Bel Air] made six and two saves each.
One week from today, the Thunder open up Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play with a home match against Calvin University on October 5. That match kicks off at 4 pm on Weaver Field.
