ORLANDO, Fla. – The Trine University women's tennis team ended their spring break trip with a resounding 7-2 victory over Baldwin Wallace University.
The Thunder took two points out of the doubles portion of the dual, one on the court and the other by default. In the No. 2 match freshmen Alexis Maloney and Emilee Bassett picked up an 8-4 win while the team won the No. 3 match by default.
The Yellow Jackets gave Trine another win by default in the No. 6 singles match, meaning the team needed just two more wins to secure the victory. They would end up winning four more matches to secure the 7-2 win. Bassett in the No. 3 match and senior Bailey Pelliccia in the No. 5 match both earned 6-2, 6-0 wins for the team. Maloney needed the same number of points in the No. 4 match with a 6-0, 6-2 win.
In the closest win of the day for the Thunder freshman Elina Locane won No. 2 singles with scores of 7-5, 6-3.
Trine improves to 6-3 overall following the victory. They will host Manchester University for their next dual on Tuesday, March 14. The match is set to start at 4 p.m.
