ADRIAN, Mich. – The Trine University women's tennis team stopped a three-game skid by defeating Adrian College by the score of 6-3.
The Thunder earned three team points during the doubles portion of the contest. Sophomore Bekah Trent and freshman Elina Locane started the day with an 8-6 win in the No. 1 match while senior Eva Morales and sophomore Lizzie Welker won the No. 3 match by the same score. Freshmen Emilee Bassett and Alexis Maloney finished off the first half of the match with an 8-4 win in the No. 2 match.
Trine then split the singles portion of the day to finish off the 6-3 victory. Locane got the first win during singles in the No. 3 match by the score of 6-4, 7-5 followed by Bassett in the No. 4 match with scores of 6-4, 6-3. Maloney finished off the day in the No. 5 match needing a third set to secure the win with scores of 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
The team improves to 11-6 overall and 3-3 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play following the win. They will finish their season on Saturday, April 22 when they host Kalamazoo College. The dual is set to start at 1 p.m.
