DECATUR, Ill. – Senior Alexandria Smith finished second as an individual, leading the way for the Trine University women's triathlon team to a runner-up performance at the Millikin University Invitational.
The Thunder tallied 155 points in the event, second only to North Central College who finished the day with 173. They came in a solid 33 points ahead of the host team who finished third.
Smith was the start of the day, she turned in a time of 1:11:22 to finish in second as the top individual performer for the team. Two other student-athletes also finished top-ten at the event including freshman Grace Huisman in seventh (1:13:05) and sophomore Kathryn Berlew in tenth (1:14:39).
Senior Samantha Weaver 18th in the event with a time of 1:18:41 and junior Rebecca Schaffner rounded out the scorecard with a 24th place finish (1:21:48).
Trine will next race when they travel to Stockton, Mo. For the West Regional Qualifier on Saturday, Oct. 15. The event is a chance for the team to qualify for the 2022 Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships where the team would look to defend their national title.
