TEMPE, Ariz. – The Trine University women's triathlon team received multiple performance-based and academic accolades from the College Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA).
Thanks to their individual performances at the NCAA Division III Women's Collegiate Triathlon Championships, the following student-athletes were named CTCA All-American: Amira Faulkner (First Team), Grace Huisman (Second Team), Alexandria Smith (Second Team), Kathryn Berlew (Second Team), Samantha Weaver (Honorable Mention), Rebecca Schaffner (Honorable Mention) and Summer South (Honorable Mention). The group finished inside the top-25 at the season's final event and led the team to a runner-up finish.
From there, the group of CTCA All-Americans were selected as CTCA Scholar All-Americans if eligible. A studnet-athlete must have a 3.5 grade point average or higher as well as finish inside the top-20 at the NCAA Division III Women's Collegiate Triathlon Championships to be selected. Faulkner, Huisman, Smith, Berlew and Schaffner were honored as CTCA Scholar All-Americans thanks to their performance on the race course and in the classroom. The Thunder were also chosen as a Scholar All-American Team with a collective grade point average above 3.2.
