MARSHALL, Mich.—The Trine men's golf team placed fourth at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's third jamboree hosted by Albion on Wednesday evening.
Hope College won the jamboree shooting 289, while Trine finished with 314. Kalamazoo College placed second, while Calvin finished in third.
Trine was led by freshman Joe LeSueur (Northfield Center, Ohio/Trinity) who shot three over-75 on the day to place 10th. Fellow freshman Grant Brettnacher (Brookton, Ind./Harrison) finished in a tie for 11th, shooting 76. Also golfing for Trine was Grant McKay (79, T18) (Las Vegas, Nev./Coronado), Nick Knowlton (84, T29) (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman) and Todd Mieske (85, T34) (Owosso, Mich./Owosso).
Hope's Josh Gibson was the individual medalist for the day shooting four under-64. Kalamazoo College's David Smith finished the day two under-70 for second place.
Trine will be back in action on Monday, Sept. 26 at the fourth and final MIAA jamboree held at the Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids, Mich. Calvin will serve as the host school.
