ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's golf team has announced the 2023 fall season schedule. The biggest change to the calendar for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) men's golf teams is moving the conference championship event to the spring season. The teams will still compete in four conference rounds during the fall, but the championship tournament will take place in the spring of 2024.
The season kicks off for the Thunder at the Lou Collins Memorial Tournament at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek, Michigan on September 1-2. Trine is the defending champions of the 36-hole event after defeating 14 other teams last year.
The annual Ken Venturi Invitational at Zollner Golf Course, the home for Trine Thunder men's and women's gold, will be held on Wednesday, September 6. It is the first of two events at home in Angola, Indiana for the squad.
Another two round event awaits the Thunder when they travel to Tecumseh, Michigan and Tecumseh Golf Club for the Irish Hills Invitational on September 15-16. Trine were runners-up as a team while senior Mark Civanich was the individual champion in 2022.
The slate of four MIAA rounds begins on September 19 when Albion College hosts MIAA Jamboree #1 at Cascades Golf Course in Jackson, Michigan. From there, the team will tee off at Stonewater Country Club in Caledonia, Michigan for MIAA Jamboree #2 at Calvin University on September 25.
Once again, the Thunder will host competition at Zollner Golf Course, this time for conference action in MIAA Jamboree #3, on Saturday, September 30. When Trine last hosted an MIAA event in 2021, the Thunder were the class of the field on their home course. The fall portion of the conference schedule concludes with MIAA Jamboree #4 hosted by the University of Olivet. That event takes place on October 11 at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Michigan.
Trine will compete in one final event in the fall, the Region V Preview taking place on October 23-24. The 36-hole event showcasing top NCAA Division III teams from across the Great Lakes region will be held at Warren Golf Course at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
