FREELAND, Mich. – Adrienne Rosey (Schoolcraft, Mich. / Schoolcraft) of the Trine University softball team has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Softball Pitcher of the Week during the Monday, April 4 iteration of the award.
The sophomore is the second Thunder to win a weekly award from the MIAA this season and the first pitcher to do so. It is the second time in her career that she has taken home the award.
Rosey posted nearly a perfect week in the circle as the team went 4-0. She pitched two complete games allowing no runs and only three hits while striking out an impressive 20 batters. She would not walk a batter during the week.
She opened the week with a seven inning start against Anderson (Ind.) University. She took a perfect game into the bottom of the fourth when she allowed the lone hit of the contest for the opposition. She would finish the game with 12 strikeouts on the way to an 8-0 victory.
Her second start of the week came on Sunday and she turned in nearly the same performance. The team would once again win 8-0, this time reaching the mark in the fifth inning to end the game early. In her five innings of work, Rosey allowed just two hits while striking out eight.
