Sanner wrapped up the second with a layup to send the team into the locker room with a 42-23 advantage.
The Muskies showed fight in the third quarter by matching Trine score-for-score, but thew depth of the Thunder was too much to overcome. A three-point make from Allison Capouch from Jordan Walters made it 19-14 in favor of the home team in the third quarter.
It took all the way until 6:35 remaining in the fourth quarter for Trine to get on the board via a Jada Rhonehouse made jump shot. Addison Hutson, Kearston Stout and Angelina Tringali made their presence known late in this one, including eight fourth quarter points by the freshman Tringali to get to the 78-47 final score.
For the second consecutive game, it was Wagner and Sherwood leading the team in the scoring column. Wagner had team-highs in points (18), rebounds (8) and assists (4) while Sherwood had 16 points to match her career-high from Wednesday. Sherwood had this to say about her performance at the charity stripe, a place where she went 10-for-11 on Saturday: "The free shots can make or break a game, we work on them every practice. They always impact the game and are really important."
The Thunder shot a pristine 54.2% (26-for-48) from the field in the contest and were 21-for-25 (84.0%) from the free throw line. Compare that to the 33.3% (17-for-51) shooting by their opponents. Trine also held a firm advantage on the glass at 37-23.
