ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's basketball team wrapped up the 2023-24 season by appearing in multiple postseason national polls. In the D3hoops.com Top 25, the Thunder tucked into the final spot in the rankings. The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Coaches Poll saw Trine go from unranked to #22 in the final edition of their national ratings.
The Thunder made the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season by virtue of winning the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament Championship game over Hope College, 63-59. Trine was sent to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for their First and Second Round games.
The team was able to knock off then-#5 Gustavus Adolphus College in two overtime periods 61-58. The Thunder defense made things difficult for the opposing Gusties that included three misses on the final possession of the game to secure the victory. In total, Gustavus Adolphus shot just 34.3% (24-for-70) from the field and 10.5% (2-for-19) from beyond the arc.
Sidney Wagner was honored as a First Team All-Region player by D3hoops.com for the second straight year and was a part of the All-MIAA First Team at 15.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.5 steals per game. Sierra Hinds joined her as an All-MIAA representative on the Second Team with 9.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game on 37.0% from three.
