KALAMAZOO, MICH.-- The Trine men's golf team earned their second-consecutive first-place finish in an MIAA Jamboree as they won the MIAA Jamboree at Kalamazoo, held Monday at Kalamazoo Country Club.
Thunder golfers combined for a score of 297, their lowest round of the season. The performance vaulted Trine into sole possession of second-place in the conference standings, just one-stroke behind league-leader Hope. The Thunder gained seven strokes on the Flying Dutchman, and broke their second-place tie with Calvin in the process. Corey Bremigan (Russia, Ohio/Russia) tied for first with Calvin's John Van Noord, shooting an even-71. The round marked a new season-low for the junior. Bremigan also earned medalist honors at the MIAA-opening Jamboree at Alma.

Cody Knapp (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center) and Michael Reynolds (Wolcottville, Ind./Prairie Heights) tied for sixth overall, as each golfer carded a 75 (+4). That score was better than each golfer's average entering the match.
Rounding out Trine's top four was Brandon Snell (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee). who finished with a 76 (+5).
The back-to-back wins marked the first time a Trine team has won consecutive-Jamborees since 2005. The Thunder have given themselves the opportunity to continue to solidify their spot near the top of the MIAA on their home course this Saturday, Sept. 27. Trine will host the next Jamboree, beginning at 1 p.m. on Zollner Golf Course.
The teams with the top four scores after the eight MIAA Jamboree events will advance to the MIAA National Qualifier in the spring. The winner of the National Qualifier receives an automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships.
