PIERSON, Mich.-- The Trine men's golf team placed third in the Calvin Invitational, held Tuesday at Pilgrim's Run Golf Club.
The Thunder carded a score of 318, two-strokes back of team champion Grand Rapids Community College. Brandon Snell (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee) tied for second with a two-over 75. The round was one-stroke better than the senior's season-average. The tournament was tested in winds of over 20 mph. GRCCs Zach Bialik won individual medalist honors with a one-under 72.

Cody Knapp (Liberty Center, Ohio/Liberty Center) placed second among Thunder golfers with a 79 (+6). Connor Dwyer (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) finished just behind with an 80. Rounding out Trine's scores were Corey Bremigan (Russia, Ohio/Russia) and Austin Tevlin (Edwardsburg, Mich./Edwardsburg), who each finished with 84s.
Trine will play round two of the MIAA National Qualifier this Friday, April 24 at Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive, Mich. The Thunder enter the second round in second-place, 10-strokes back of first-place Hope.
The winner of the three-round tournament receives an automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships.
