BATTLE CREEK, Mich.—The Trine men's golf team finished in a tie for fourth place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Fall Final on Saturday afternoon at the Battle Creek Country Club. Freshman Grant Brettnacher earned second-team All-MIAA honors.
Trine golfers knocked 12 strokes off their Friday scores to finish with 632, tying with Albion. Hope College took the top spot shooting 593. Calvin College placed second at 599, and Kalamazoo College shot 613.
Brettnacher capped off the fall conference season with the first All-MIAA honors of his career. The freshman won individual medalist honors twice in MIAA Jamboree rounds. He finished ninth in the conference in individual scoring.
Today's performance locked up a fourth-place finish in the MIAA for the Thunder this fall. Trine advances to the MIAA National Qualifier in the spring, where the team will compete for a chance to earn an automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships. The winner of the four-team, three-round Qualifier receives the AQ bid.
