DULUTH, Minn. – The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) has announced their "Three Stars of the Week," with sophomore Josh Wright recognized among the trio as a representative from the Trine University men's hockey team.
Before the beginning of the season, the NCHA announced that rather than choosing an offensive and defensive player of the week they would instead select the three starts of the week, mirroring the traditional three stars of the game. Wright is the second member of the Thunder to earn the new award. It is the first time that he has earned any NCHA weekly award.
The defenseman helped pace the offense in a weekend sweep of Lake Forest College. He finished the pair of games with two goals, one in each game. He started with the team's first goal of the third period on Friday, increasing the lead to 4-1 and starting a scoring run that ended with a 6-1 victory. Then on Saturday he tallied the game winner with an overtime goal that secured the 3-2 victory.
