GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Trine University men’s tennis team traveled to Michigan on Friday and Saturday for the Calvin/Hope Flighted Tournament this weekend. They faced a lot of great competition and placed in a few of the brackets.
In the “A” singles bracket, Dan Desper (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) led the Thunder as he finished in sixth place going 1-2 for the weekend. Joe Dunbar (Carmel, Ind./Blessed Theodore Guerin) finished in eighth place and finished 0-3 on the weekend.
In the “B” singles bracket, David Murray (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) led the way as he finished in second place, going 2-1 for the tournament. Joey Clark (Sturgis, MI/Sturgis) went 1-2 and finished in sixth place.
Flight “C” of the singles bracket saw Nick Ihrie (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) finish 2-1 for a third place finish. Zach Richardson (Muncie, Ind./Delta) went 0-3 and finished in eighth place.
In the final singles bracket, the “D” class, Trevor Derby (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) finished at sixth place, going 1-2 for the weekend. Ryan Richman (Wabash, Ind./Wabash) went 0-3 and finished in eighth place.
In the “A” doubles bracket, Dunbar and Desper went 2-1 and finished in fifth place while the team of Murray and Ihrie went 0-3 to finish in eighth place.
In the doubles “B” bracket, Richman and Clark finished in fourth place going 1-2 the duo of Richardson and Derby finished in sixth place going 1-2 as well.
The Thunder will finish their schedule this week by first traveling to the Huntington Foresters on Monday, April 23 for a 4:00 p.m. match.
