ANGOLA, IND. -- The Trine University men's tennis team came up just short of visiting Adrian College, losing by the score of 5-4.
The Thunder started the match the right way coming away with two wins in the doubles portion of the competition. Seniors Victor Flynn (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South) and Judson Quinn (Russiaville, Ind. / Western) came away with the 8-3 victory in the No. 1 match. In the No. 2 match, junior Blake Trusty (Fremont, Ind. / Fremont) and sophomore Jacob Weiss (Richmond, Ind. / Richmond) came away with the 8-2 win.
Trine came away with two early victories in the singles portion to take a 4-1 lead and put the Bulldogs one match away from defeat. The Thunder picked up its first win when Flynn took the No. 1 match 6-3, 6-1. The second win came from Quinn in the No. 2 match with scores of 6-2, 6-1.
Adrian responded with three straight wins and the contest came down to the No. 3 singles match. Unfortunately, the Thunder came up just short in the three-set thriller and lost the contest 5-4.
Trine falls to 5-10 overall and 1-3 in the MIAA following the loss. They will continue their season when they travel to face Alma College on Saturday, April 14 for a 3 p.m. contest.
