ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Trine University men's tennis team swept King's College in the first competition of their spring break trip.
The Thunder started the day with three wins in the doubles portion of the contest. In the closest doubles match of the day Drew Dixon (Fishers, Ind. / Fishers) and Sid Petersen (Crown Pointe, Ind. / Bellmont) took the No. 1 by the score of 8-5. In the No. 2 match, Aaron Streit (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) and Jacob Weiss (Richmond, Ind. / Richmond) won 8-3 and in the No. 3 match Jaxon Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) and Evan Trusty (Fremont, Ind. / Fremont) won 8-1.
Streit then made it two for the day with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the No. 1 singles match. Three others did the same including Petersen at No. 2 (6-0, 6-2), Weiss at No. 3 (6-0, 6-2) and Dixon at No. 5 (6-1, 6-3). Isaac Everitt (Scottsburg, Ind. / Scottsburg) won his No. 3 match with scores of 6-1, 6-0 and Jordan Baker (Salem, Ind. / Salem) finished off the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win.
The Thunder improve to 4-1 following the victory. They will face off with Wartburg College tomorrow, Tuesday, March 3 at 11:30 a.m. The match is set to take place at the USTA National Tennis Center in Orlando, Fla.
