FREELAND, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced the 2022 edition of their men's tennis All-MIAA teams and a pair of Trine University student athletes have been selected.
Freshman Cole Goodman (Eagle, Mich. / Grand Ledge) debuted as a first team selection while junior Aaron Streit (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) made his first appearance on the second team.
"As a freshman, Cole, immediately embraced his role as the top singles player while working tirelessly on his doubles play," said head coach Erin Kolar, "The three singles matches he lost all went the distance. With the success he had I'm really looking forward to watching him grow and compete for the next several years!"
Goodman earned his spot on the first team by going 4-3 in MIAA No. 1 singles matches during the conference season. All of his victories were lopsided affairs while his losses all came in three-set matches against fellow first team selections. He would go 5-2 in MIAA No. 1 doubles matches to further boost his resume during the season.
Streit would finish 5-2 in MIAA No. 2 singles matches during the conference season. His two loses came to first team All-MIAA selections. In No. 2 doubles he would finish the MIAA season 5-2 as well, his two losses coming to Hope College and Kalamazoo College, the first and second place conference finishers.
"Aaron's experience and leadership helped the team achieve new successes this year. I'm elated he is finally being recognized for all his hard work!" continued Kolar.
