CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Ted Hofmeister of the Trine University men's volleyball team has secured Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) Offensive Player of the Week honors after a 1-1 week. Hofmeister has won the award two other times in his career.
The senior outside hitter from Powell, Ohio became the Trine men's volleyball program's all-time leader in kills and points this weekend with a pair of dominant performances against Marian University and Lakeland University. Hofmeister has accumulated 680 career kills and 760.5 points to become the first change atop the leaderboard since the program restarted as NCAA DIII in 2019.
He would improve upon his season high in kills in each of the two matches with 16 kills versus Marian and 22 in Sunday's match against Lakeland. He is fourth in kills per set this season at 3.67 and third in hitting percentage at .331 early in 2024. In serve receive, he was perfect on the weekend with 27 receptions against the Sabres and 28 versus the Muskies. He would chip in with 22 digs, six assists and two block assists in the matches.
The Thunder are on the road for their next match on Tuesday, January 30 when Trine faces Bethel University beginning at 7 p.m.
