CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – For the second time in the 2024 season, Ted Hofmeister of the Trine University men's volleyball team has been tabbed Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) Offensive Player of the Week. It is his fourth time winning the conference's weekly award.
The Powell, Ohio native helped lead the Thunder to wins on Friday over The University of Olivet (3-0) and Saturday against Adrian College (3-1) and clinch a spot in the MCVL Tournament. It is the fourth consecutive season that Trine will take part in the MCVL postseason.
Efficiency was key for Hofmeister as the senior completed the weekend with a .446 hitting percentage. He had 13 kills on 16 swings against the Comets and 18 kills in 40 attempts versus the Bulldogs. He added three assists and three aces to his statline as well. Hofmeister averaged 5.4 points per set for Trine and posted 4.43 kills per set. On the defensive side of the ball, he contributed 17 digs, with 12 against Olivet, and chipped in on six blocks (two solo).
The final week of the regular season gets started for the Thunder on Friday, April 5 on the road against Wittenberg University at 7 p.m.
