ROXBORO, N.C. -- In its only action of the year, the Trine University women's triathlon team competed in the Hyco Lake Triathlon on Apr. 17 and placed as the top NCAA Division III team.
Trine finished with a team score of 97 points to place first of three DIII schools. Transylvania (Ky.) University was second with 148 points and Eastern Mennonite (Va.) University was third at 150 points.
Individually, sophomore Amira Faulkner (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) posted the top overall time among DIII competitors with an overall time of 1:08:15. Faulkner had the second quickest mark in the swim of 11:22 and followed with a time 37:46 in the bike portion and ended her race with a time of 18:27 in the 5k run. Fellow sophomore Alli Smith (Temperance, Mich./Bedford Senior) was second overall with a combined time of 1:09.11 after posting times of 11:40 in the swim, 37:59 in the bike and 19:31 in the running portion.
Junior Kyra Warren (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) finished in the top-five with an overall time of 1:14:50 to place fourth individually. Warren started off the race with a time of 14:00 in the swim and then had a mark of 39:05 in the 20k bike and finished with a run of 20:54.
Sophomore Samantha Weaver (Stevensville, Mich./Lakeshore) finished fourth on the team, and 10th overall, after recording an overall time of 1:19:46 thanks to a time of 12:02 in the swim, 41:05 in the bike and 26:38 in the run. Senior Stacy Dibley (Bristol, Ind./Elkhart Central) placed two spots back of Weaver with a cumulative time of 1:20:28. After turning in a time of 15:43 in the swim, Dibley followed with a mark of 43:39 in the bike portion and wrapped-up with a time of 20:34 in the run.
Senior Tori Klingsmith (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) rounded out the field for Trine and had a complete time of 1:30.11 after posting a mark of 17:00 in the swim then in the bike, she had a time of 44:42. Klingsmith then ended her race with the 5k run and crossed the finish line wiht a teim of 26:18.
