ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University acrobatics and tumbling team secured the first win in program history with a home victory over Georgetown (Ky.) College by the score of 171.265 to 147.925.
It was the Tigers that built the first lead of the contest sweeping all four heats in the compulsory event to take a 27.55 to 16.85. The Thunder's best score came in the toss heat where they finished with a 7.90.
Georgetown built on their lead in the acro event, outscoring Trine 25.35 to 22.85. The Thunder did pick up their first heat victory of the day taking the 5-element heat with a score of 8.60.
Trine would pick up another win in the synchronized pyramid heat with a score of 8.25 while also turning in a strong score in the open heat with an 8.20. They would drop the event by 25.60 to 24.05.
The toss event was another close one with the Thunder picking up another heat with an 8.50 in the open heat, but they fell by a total of 25.15 to 24.40. In the tumbling even the Tigers built their lead again outscoring the Thunder 44.275 to 32.175.
Trine roared back in the team event posting a score of 50.94 to take the meet with the final score of 171.265 to 147.925.
The Thunder improve to 1-2 following the victory. They will next take the mats on Friday, April 2 when they compete in a tri-meet against both Adrian College and Concordia University Wisconsin. The event will be hosted by Adrian and is set to commence at noon.
