ADRIAN, Mich. – The Trine University acrobatics and tumbling team finished off their season with a third-place finish at the 2022 NCATA Division III Invitational by overcoming obstacles to win their consolation match against Stevenson University 200.970 to 131.600.
The Thunder would win all but one of the events in the contest on the way to the victory despite having to change up their lineup due to an injury. They would begin with a 24.75 to 20.55 victory in the compulsory event with their best score coming in the toss heat with a 6.80.
During the acro event the team posted two convincing heat victories on their way to a 24.75 to 21.20 win. They would post a 9.10 in the second heat and an 8.75 in the first heat to headline the event.
Trine would turn in three over-eight scores in the pyramid event, needing all three to take the event by the score of 26.95 to 25.70. They would score a 9.25 in the first heat, an 8.80 in the second heat and a 8.90 in the third heat.
The Thunder would take the toss event 23.20 to 19.60 with three solid scores. Their best came in the open heat where they posted an 8.05. The team's lone loss of the day came in the tumbling event where they were just beaten 44.55 to 43.10. They finished strong in the event posting an 8.30 in the fifth pass and an 8.20 in the sixth pass.
Stevenson was unable to field a group for the team event, while the Thunder would come up with a 58.22 to secure the match victory.
