LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- After a week that saw the offense explode, the Trine University softball team was again selected third in the nation by the latest edition of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll.
For the second week in a row the top four spots in the rankings remained unchanged. Salisbury University and Christopher Newport both remained ahead of Trine while Texas Lutheran University was in fourth. All told the top eight spots in this week's poll remained unchanged.
The Thunder won their four games last week by a combined score of 49-4, averaging over 12 runs per game. They began the week with their most lopsided of the victories by defeating Anderson (Ind.) University 21-1 in five innings. They would take the second half of that doubleheader by the score of 11-3.
Then later in the week the team swept Spalding University in doubleheader that was played on the campus of University of Indianapolis. The Thunder shutout the Golden Eagles winning 9-0 and 8-0, both in five innings.
