AUSTIN, Texas – Senior pitcher Alexis Michon of the Trine University softball team has been selected as a 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American as a member of the second team.
In the classroom, the Montville, Conn. native has accumulated a 3.88 grade point average while majoring in Elementary Education. Along with her new Academic All-American status, Michon was named a first team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and to the first team of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association all-conference awards.
The senior was one of the best pitchers in the country this season, leading the team to a 43-5 record, the second most wins in program history. She finished with the best walks and hits per inning pitched (WHIP) in the country. She was second in the nation with a 17.30 strikeout-to-walk ratio and fourth with 3.84 hits allowed per seven innings. She was top-ten with 9.9 strikeouts per seven innings and .57 walks allowed per seven innings.
This is the second straight season that a Thunder student-athlete has garnered Academic All-American status, with Anna Koeppl representing the team in 2023. It is just the second time in program history that Trine has been represented on the list in back-to-back seasons.
