ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's volleyball team and head coach Jamie Wozniak have released their match schedule for the 2023 season. The Thunder will compete in six multi-match events as well as eight Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contests throughout the fall months. Trine is coming off a 12-11 season last year and was 4-4 in MIAA play.
The Great Lakes Crossover at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio will open the 2023 campaign for the Thunder, with matchups against Case Western Reserve University and Suffolk University on September 1 and matches versus Bethany College and Allegheny College on September 2.
The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association/North Coast Athletic Conference (MIAA/NCAC) Crossover event takes place the following weekend where Trine will face the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, host school DePauw University and Hiram College on September 8-9.
On September 12, the Thunder compete in their only single-match non-conference event when they travel to Defiance College to face the Yellow Jackets. Following that, the team makes the journey to the empire state for matches against State University of New York (SUNY) Oswego, the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and Grove City College in the RIT Invitational on September 15-16.
Before conference play emanates, Trine will be playing in the Manchester Invitational on September 22. The Thunder will do battle with the Manchester University Spartans at 4 p.m. followed by a match against the Franklin College Grizzlies at 6 p.m.
The first MIAA contest for the team will also be the home opener inside of Hershey Hall. Trine and Adrian College will compete on September 26 beginning at 6:30 p.m. to spark a three-match home spell. The Albion College Britons (September 30) and Kalamazoo College Hornets (October 4) continue that stretch of home matches.
The Thunder are back on the road for two conference matches at Calvin University (October 10) and Saint Mary's College (October 13) and then go away from the MIAA to take part in the North Central Tournament on October 14. Trine matches up with Augustana College and the host institution, North Central College, at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The end of the month begins to slow down for the Thunder as they face Hope College on October 18. Ten days later, the final event of the year will be a tri-match in Greencastle, Indiana where Kenyon College and DePauw await the team.
The final home match of the regular season takes place on November 1 against the Alma College Scots. The conclusion of the regular season will be at the University of Olivet on November 4.
