COLUMBUS, OHIO-- The Trine men's tennis team was defeated by Capital, 7-2, Friday afternoon at the Capital Tennis Courts.
Caleb Knust (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) remained unbeaten on the 2014-15 campaign with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the no. 1 singles flight. The two-time All-MIAA selection is now 38-8 in his Trine career in singles matches. Freshman Victor Flynn (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) continued his hot start to the season with a victory in the tiebreaker in the no. 6 singles court. The victory runs Flynn's record to 3-0 this season. The loss was the first of the season for Trine, who falls to 2-1 on the year. Capital is now 2-0.
The Crusaders swept doubles play, and got wins in the no.'s 2-5 flights in singles play to take home the victory. Dale Booher, Benny Balizar, Kenny Duncan and Beau Streety each captured singles matches for Capital. Each player also contributed as part of a victorious doubles pairing.
Trine returns to action tomorrow, when they will face Otterbein at 11 a.m. on the Capital Tennis Courts.
