ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Trine men's tennis team was defeated by Lawrence, 6-3, in the final match of the team's spring break trip Friday afternoon on courts at the USTA National Campus.
The Thunder started things off strong with two doubles victories. Victor Flynn (Grosse Pointe, Mich. / Grosse Pointe South) and Judson Quinn (Russiaville, Ind. / Western) earned a tight 8-6 win to win their second-straight match. Flynn and Quinn won three of their four matches on the spring break trip.
Blake Trusty (Fremont, Ind. / Fremont) and Jacob Weiss (Richmond, Ind. / Richmond) continued their strong play with Trine's second doubles win fo the match. The duo earned the victory by an 8-3 score. Trusty and Weiss have also won three of four matches during the spring season.
Garrett Baysinger (Brazil, Ind. / Rockville) accounted for the lone singles victory of the match for the Thunder. The senior picked up his second straight victory, 6-1, 6-3.
Quinn, Flynn and Trusty each pushed their respective matches to deciding third sets, but were each bested by their opposition.
Trine fell to 4-5 overall. Lawrence improved to 4-4 on the season.
The Thunder return home to face Bethel (Ind.) Thursday, Mar. 23 at 4 p.m.
